Lahore: Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik recently approved the implementation of the E-Building Plan project in the province — with the initiative making it a requirement for local government bodies, metropolitan corporations, and development authorities to issue construction approvals within the pre-set deadlines, a news source reported.

The system has been introduced to ensure and implement ease of doing business policies in Punjab. The new system will be made functional on Monday (June 15). Reportedly, the Punjab Information Technology Board has been tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of the e-portal.

The new system allows clients to seek related information from the public office via the web portal system, phone calls, email, and WhatsApp. According to the details available, the government has finalised the following durations for the issuance of various approvals related to the construction sector:
- Issuance of Building Completion Certificate in 30 days
- Issuance of approval for Land-use Conversion in 45 days
- NOC issuance for private housing schemes located in jurisdiction of respective development authorities in 60 days
- NOC issuance for private housing schemes that fall under the respective domain metropolitan corporations in 75 days
- NOC issuance for high-rise buildings in 30 days
- Approval of building plans for mixed-use developments, residential projects, semi commercial structures, and industrial units in 30 days
- Water and Sanitation Authority, Traffic Engineering and Planning Authority, and Environment Protection Department to issue NOC for high-rise buildings in 7 days
- Head Draft Man to grant related approvals in one day after the submission of building plans
- Municipal Patwari and Building Surveyor to issue related approvals in two days after the submission of building plans
- Building Inspector to grant related approvals in 3 days after receiving the building plans
- Chief Corporation Officer to scrutinize the related documents and send the verified documents to the administrator, who is required to give the final approval in 6 days
