Lahore: The Punjab government has provided its approval to the construction of the Sheranwala Gate Flyover in Lahore at an estimated cost of PKR 4 billion, according to a news report published on February 24. However, it postponed the decision regarding Shahkam Chowk Flyover till next week.

The final approval was given in a meeting of the Planning and Development (P&D) Department. Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, plans for Sheranwala Gate and Shahkam Chowk flyovers were presented. The meeting ordered a feasibility study on the traffic count for the Shahkam Chowk Flyover project.

Reportedly, the 3D design for Shahkam Chowk Flyover has been prepared and an estimated cost of PKR 4,300 million was proposed. The meeting reduced the cost estimates by PKR 600 million in addition to reducing the completion timeline from one year to 10 months.
As per the design, the project will comprise three lanes and a road stretch on Multan Road. The development work on the said project is expected to be launched during the going year.
