Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced that one month’s additional salary would be given to medics attending COVID-19 patients, a news source reported.

It was announced that the additional salary would be paid from April 1. Buzdar said that the heirs of the medical employees – who died – would be granted financial support under the martyr’s package.

The chief minister addressed a cabinet committee meeting on Thursday regarding the combat against coronavirus breakout. The meeting was attended by other senior officials through a video link, including provincial chief secretary, Provincial Ministers Hashim Javan Bakht and Raja Basharat, Lahore commissioner, inspector general Police, and secretaries of Health, Finance and Information among others.

Furthermore, Buzdar also directed the officials to thoroughly implement the issued orders regarding the lockdown extension. He said that industries granted with permission to open up must observe the strongly advised standard operating procedures (SOPs), as action will be taken against those who do not implement the SOPs.

The chief minister further revealed the government’s efforts of establishing four new laboratories that will become functional after the Punjab Healthcare Commission’s (PHC) approval. The meeting reviewed the COVID-19 situation, precautionary measures, and availability of medical supplies including personal protective equipment (PPE).
