Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) under the auspices of the Government of Punjab has announced a loan scheme for brick kiln owners in a bid to facilitate the conversion of traditional brick kilns to zigzag technology; part of the provincial executive’s efforts to curb smog levels in the province, a news source reported.

According to the details revealed, The Bank of Punjab (BOP) has already commenced with the issuance of soft loans of up to PKR 1 million to brick kiln owners in the province. Moreover, both PDMA and BOP have teamed up to organise training sessions for technical staff in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi; in addition to setting up District Verification Committees for monitoring and addressing queries regarding the scheme.

Kiln owners interested in availing the said financing facility are requested to bring along their CNICs at their respective Tehsil Facilitation Centers or BOP-designated Customer Facilitation Centers (for online registration of applications).
