Sialkot: The Punjab government on Wednesday allowed Sialkot’s vending industry to reopen on the request of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), a news source reported. SCCI President Muhammad Ashraf Malik stated that, going forward, the industry was bound to follow the SOPs issued by the provincial government.

Malik said that thousands of families depended on the vendor industry for their livelihoods. Meanwhile, the value added industries of Sialkot also utilised vendor services and raw material providers for export purposes. He opined that through these export earnings, the country’s foreign reserves and economic stability would improve.

The SCCI president opined that allowing the complete supply chain to become operational again would expedite the business activities in Sialkot. However, he added that complying with SOPs was the only way to carry on business activities during the ongoing pandemic. The business community would follow the guidelines issued by the government to for ensure the health and safety of all workers and customers, he said.
