Special Secretary Local Government Babar Aman Babar further revealed that previously housing schemes could only be developed in the urban areas; however, this had led to mass urban migration within Punjab. Now, in order to provide better facilities in rural areas and control the mass migration, the government has decided to allow residential schemes to be developed in rural areas as well. Mr Babar added that this move would also help reduce the pressure of a rising population growth rate within the urban areas of the province.
