Lahore: The Punjab government has announced to allocate PKR 1 billion for the development of low-cost housing projects under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) in the province, according to new sources.

To facilitate this measure, the government has set aside PKR 30 billion as subsidy for the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA). This amount will be used for developing low-cost housing units for the society’s low-income groups.

Previously, the executive had announced its decision to reduce tax applicable on investments made in the NPHA’s affordable residential projects by 90%. Moreover, it has allocated PKR 1.5 billion for the Akhuwat Foundation to facilitate the provision of Qarz-e-Hasna to low-income individuals for constructing their houses.
