During the meeting, Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority Chairman General (retd) Ahmed Saleem Mela informed the governor of the authority’s measures so far, and its strategy for the future. Sarwar responded that they should test the water quality of all existing filtration plants in the public and private sectors. He directed the concerned officials to set up quality management teams for this purpose.
These teams would ensure that people received quality water supply, and that plants providing sub-standard water would face heavy fines along with other penalties.
Meanwhile, the authority is also expected to form special teams for the repair and restoration of the non-operational filtration plants across the province. Sarwar revealed that they have sought the list of such plants from the respective district administrations.
