Lahore: The Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB) has announced that the provincial government has collected PKR 135 billion in tax receipts through its e-Pay Punjab online platform, news sources reported on December 9.

According to the PITB, there were a total of 24 million transactions that were made through e-Pay Punjab and the following sums were collected:
– PKR 83 billion in sales tax
– PKR 16 billion in token tax
– PKR 5 billion in traffic challan
– PKR 16 billion in property tax
– Over PKR 354 million in e-challan

It is important to note that E-Pay Punjab, a payment system created by the PITB in conjunction with the Punjab Finance Department and 1-Link, enables users to pay a variety of taxes and levies from 11 departments across Punjab through multiple methods. Some of the platforms used for revenue collection include; ATMs, internet banking, mobile phone banking, Jazz Cash, Easy Paisa, U-paisa, and over-the-counter at 1-Link member banks.
