Lahore: The managing authorities of public hospitals in the city have been directed to set up shelters for attendants of patients, a news report stated. The order comes from Punjab Health Minister Professor Yasmeen Rashid.

During a meeting of Medical Superintendents chaired by the minister, she stated that attendant shelters will be established in Lahore General Hospital, Services Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Punjab Institute of Cardiology, and Rawalpindi Holy Family Hospital within a week’s time. This will be the first phase of the project and more public hospitals will follow in the next phase. The superintendents put forth the available venues in their respective hospitals.

The minister added that the decision for these shelters comes as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision; preventing people from fighting hardships under open skies. In further directions given by her, the Medical Superintendents have been asked to add extra beds in the hospital emergencies.
