Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) recently organised a workshop in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) regarding the finalisation of the National Tourism Strategy, according to a news source. This is the result of months of planning, with the strategy to be finalised with the coordination and input of all relevant bodies, including the the National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB) and its Thematic Group Working members.

The attendees of this workshop included NTCB members, tourism experts from the private sector, and members of thematic work groups. All of them actively participated and gave their input regarding the tourism strategy.
NTCB Chairman Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari inaugurated this workshop and said that this strategy would help achieve the government’s ‘Vision 2030’ target and uplift Pakistan’s tourism sector. He also appreciated the UNDP’s role in organising this workshop.

He stated that a tourism strategy was necessary to boost the sector, and must be drafted by including all private and public stakeholders to ensure that important milestones are achieved on a timely basis.
PTDC Chairman Intikhab Alam said that a draft of this strategy had been created in consultation with all major stakeholders and would also incorporate the suggestions of the private sector, so that it could be launched soon.
