Lahore: Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister (CM) for Tourism Asif Mehmood on Monday said that the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) would register all hotels and motels to promote tourism in the province, a news source reported, He further stated that the registration process would take place in a phase-wise manner.

Mehmood also highlighted the importance of registering rental services as the absence of a proper mechanism caused many problems for the tourism sector. He expressed his views on the matter while presiding over a meeting to review the bills for compulsory registration of hotels and motels.
The advisor also pointed out that Punjab currently had 700 registered hotels and motels. He added that the authorities concerned had a clear understanding of the vision of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and Punjab CM Usman Buzdar – following which they can create a guideline for promoting tourism.
Mehmood opined that registering vehicles working through the online cab services was also a need of the hour. He added that there should be separate vehicles for providing services to tourists. He also directed the relevant departments top amend the current tourism laws in order to overcome existing challenges.

Tourism Development Corporation Punjab (TDCP) Managing Director (MD) Tanveer Jabbar was also present at the meeting. He said that proposals for the implementation of the Punjab Tourism Authority and Tourism Police were under consideration.
