Peshawar: The properties of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be handed over to the provincial government for promoting tourism, a news source reported. As per the publication, the chief minister was informed about the steps taken by PTDC to attract foreign and local tourists to the province in the coming months.

Provincial Ministers Shaukat Yousafzai and Taimoor Salim Jhagra, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari, and various other officials attended a meeting on Monday. They were informed that the KP government had allocated PKR 360 million for the human resources (HR) liabilities of PTDC and contributed PKR 250 million to the endowment fund of PTDC.

The participants were briefed about the Integrated Tourism Management Plan (2020) – designed to attract tourists to freshly identified sites in KP. Various government departments related to health, communication and security have been tasked with tourist facilitation. These include security measures, provision of treatment facilities and food, management of solid waste and sanitation, the establishment of facilitation centres, and revamping of roads.

Advisor to Chief Minister Ajmal Wazir emphasised a uniform and coordinated plan for both the federal and provincial governments to boost tourism.
