Islamabad: Development projects worth PKR 13 billion for the federal capital have been included in the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), according to a news report. The proposal for these projects was sent by Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).
The MCI proposed a number of budget proposals since its inception in 2015. However, it is only now that they’ve received approval for their development projects. For development work on these projects, the MCI is expected to receive PKR 4 billion from the budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019. Responding to the approval, Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the inclusion of these development projects in the PSDP is a big achievement.
Some of the projects for which the funds will be included under PSDP are: Construction of the MCI House, town hall and offices for union council chairman, beautification of Islamabad, construction of pavements, upgradation of water supply and sanitation system, construction rehabilitation of access roads, a bus service project, and the procurement of machinery for sanitation and disaster management.
The government will allocate PKR 625 million for construction of a town hall and MCI House, PKR 500 million for the bus project, PKR 150 million for the beautification of Islamabad, PKR 150 million for construction of pavements, PKR 250 million for procuring disaster management machinery, PKR 400 million for sewage treatment plants, PKR 600 million for water supply, and PKR 100 million for the construction of union council offices.
