Lahore: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) is seeking funds for its expansion from the Planning and Development Division, a news source reported. The authority has said that a delay in the disbursement of funds is already affecting the expansion of the facility.
Sources privy to the development said the lack of funds has hampered the expansion of the facility in all divisions as desired by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. The authority’s centre in Lahore is fully functional.
The previous government had ordered expansion of the project which it had introduced first in Lahore and then in six other divisions in the province. The divisions were Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.
The incumbent government ordered the establishment of PSCA centres in the remaining two divisions, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan, and pledged funds to this effect. The officials concerned had also prepared feasibility reports for the two centres.
