Gujranwala: For provision of drinking water in Gujranwala District, the Government of Punjab has decided to install filtration plants at 24 points, reported a news source. In this regard, the local government has been asked to provide details on the chosen areas.
The decision was taken on increasing complaints about people falling sick by drinking contaminated water in the district. To tackle with the situation Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar issued orders to install water filtration plants in Gujranwala, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Narowal and Sialkot.
The local government bodies are to identify four points in the mentioned cities to install the plants. Further orders about supplying electricity connections to these points were also issued.
Reportedly, installation of water filtration plants will be carried out by a private firm. The same firm will also be responsible for the management, security and maintenance of the plants.
