Faisalabad: Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan said that the city is deprived of basic civic amenities despite being the second-highest revenue-generating city of the country – according to news sources.

He highlighted that roads of the city are in dilapidated condition with traffic signals not in operational condition – which is congesting the city’s traffic flow. Moreover, he raised the poor state of the city’s main road artery ‘Canal Road’ and urged the department concerned for its timely repair and maintenance.

Rana Sikandar-e-Azam further highlighted that parts of the said road are submerged in rainwater, which might increase its erosion. He suggested for the city’s administration to expand the adjoining green belt by at least a foot lower than the road with extensive tree plantation. He was of the view that the lowered green belts would be helpful in storing rain water –which can be used to refurbish the underground water reservoirs.
