Lahore: To control water shortage in the province, the Government of Punjab has set up Provincial Water Conservation Committee, reported a news source. The committee will operate under the supervision of Punjab Chief Secretary Akbar Durani, while administrative secretaries of Departments of Irrigation, Local Government, Industry and trade, Mines and Minerals, Environment Control and Cooperatives will be its members.
The committee will make arrangements for stopping wastage of water, its proper usage and protection of subsoil water, and prepare suggestions for it. The committee’s first meeting was held under the supervision of Durani, where it was decided that all means will be utilised to save water. Durani also ordered to stop wastage of water in service stations and instructed them to install water recycling plants. He also instructed the authorities concerned to not issue any NOCs to new service stations.
