Islamabad: Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Saturday urged all provinces to follow the government’s ‘devolution of power plan’ to facilitate the inhabitants of the country’s underprivileged areas, a news source reported.

The minister stated that a lack of financial resources at the grassroots level had caused people residing in less developed areas to face several problems. He added that all citizens had the right to have access to the basic facilities of life at their doorsteps. He highlighted that as per the 18th amendment, it was the provincial governments’ responsibility to provide the people living within these less developed areas with better facilities.

Minister Chaudhry revealed that the incumbent government was seeking to review the 18th amendment in order to address the genuine problems faced by the country’s masses. Meanwhile, on the issue of the lockdown in the country due to the coronavirus situation, he said that the government had decided to implement a ‘smart lockdown’ strategy to support the country’s daily wagers.
