Lahore: The Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Anwar ul Haq has directed that succession certificates should be provided in a week, a news source reported. The District Judiciary Director General has issued notices on the directions of the Chief Justice.
The notice directs all districts of Punjab to issue succession certificates within a week. The notice also directs the judicial authorities to take immediate action on applications being heard for succession certificates.
Issued by a court of competent jurisdiction, the succession certificate establishes the ownership of the legal heirs of deceased regarding movable assets including deposits in the banks, shares, certificates and bonds, stocks, insurance issued by the government or the financial institutions. The succession certificate is issued under Succession Act 1925.
To get a succession certificate, the death certificate of the deceased and the details of their assets have to be provided, along with CNIC of the applicants.
