Lahore: Industry workers, owners and farmers staged a protest on June 6 at Kahna on Ferozepur Road against the ongoing acquisition of land for LDA City.
According to a news source, protesters marched towards the Gajju Matta stop of the Metro Bus project and demanded the government to stop the land acquisition process. They also burnt tires and staged a sit-in from 12pm to 6pm.
Reportedly, the demonstrators warned that they would not let the government continue with the project and if the authorities concerned did not comply, the protest would continue.
LDA City, the Lahore Development Authority’s new mega housing project, is allegedly disturbing industries in the area, causing thousands of workers to become unemployed, and also consuming agricultural land.
