The sub-committee will complete the paperwork required to impose the fee, and present a report during the next IMC meeting. IMC has issued a week’s time to the committee for preparing their recommendations. Once they provide their approval, the fees will go into immediate effect.
As per sources, the federal government had instructed IMC to bear the expenses to maintain the cleanliness of Islamabad. They added that some village Union Councils (UCs) already collect a fee of PKR 300 per household, and that administrations of private housing societies in the city also charge their residents for the same purpose.
