Rawalpindi: The provincial government has decided to raise the Property Tax by 10% in Rawalpindi and the rest of Punjab, a news source reported. A total tax of PKR 1.5 billion has been imposed on the residents of Rawalpindi district.
Excise inspectors have been assigned the target of collecting PKR 500 million till December 31st this year by Excise Director. Tax notices are now being issued to more than 100,000 citizens of Rawalpindi. The Punjab Excise Secretary has also issued instructions to provide 5% rebate on payment of tax until December 31st.
Tax collection had been suspended for the past four months of the current fiscal year as the government decisions were awaited, now the collection has been resumed and citizens will be able to pay their Property Taxes now. Due to delay in decision, the citizens had also been unable to avail the 5% rebate, so now the rebate has been extended till the end of December.
