Gujranwala: The Excise & Taxation (E&D) Department has issued property tax notices to at least 2.5 million individuals in the city, a news source reported. To achieve its annual tax target of PKR 1 billion, the department has offered a 5% rebate to these taxpayers.
It has assigned tax collection duties to the respective Excise Tax Officers (ETOs) in the six districts of Gujranwala division: Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahuddin, and Sialkot. The E&T department had commenced with the tax issuance process on September 4 and completed it on September 10.
To facilitate these taxpayers, the department recently offered a 5% rebate on property dues payments till September 30. After the expiry date, the department will impose penalty on defaulters. According to ETO Saqib Mehmood Bhatti, the E&T department would also seal buildings of the tax defaulters from October 1 onwards.
