Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has spotted 1,000 housing units against which property taxes were not being paid, reported a news source. The owners of these houses have now been brought into the tax net.
The concerned staff of the board has also started its search operation to find more such commercial and residential units to increase its tax revenue. According to RCB’s Revenue Department, the count of commercial and residential unit in its area is 75,500, out of which, 5-marla houses account for 27,000. These houses are exempt from property tax.
The board has a revenue target of PKR 675 million to meet during the fiscal year, and it is hoping to recover more than the set target.
