Faisalabad: The Punjab Finance Department has increased the target for property tax collection from Faisalabad by a figure of PKR 1 billion, reported a news source. This rise in the final quarter of the fiscal year 2018-19 has irked several officials of the Excise Department.

According to news sources, the Excise Department has decided to lodge a request for reviewing this decision. Senior officers from the department’s Faisalabad Region claim that the property tax collection from the city has improved after a very long time. Increasing the tax collection target by PKR 1 billion at this point doesn’t seem justifiable.

It is worth noting here that the tax collection officers recovered PKR 4.84 billion during the first 10 month of the fiscal year against the set target of PKR 2.31 billion. Out of the collected taxes, the department recovered PKR 1.65 billion in terms of property tax alone.
