Karachi: Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Chawla has said that the department is interested in conducting a comprehensive property survey similar to the geographical information survey that’s being conducted in Sukkur, reported a news source. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of the World Bank in his office.
The members of the meeting were informed that the geographical information survey in Sindh is almost complete, and has revealed that the number of property units owned by people has increased from 30,000 to 70,000. Sindh collects PKR 2 billion in terms of property tax and if the tax is collected based on information derived from such a survey, the tax revenue can be increased to PKR 8 billion.
