Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed relevant authorities to start conducting the property survey in Karachi next month, according to news published on January 21.

CM Shah held a meeting with the World Bank (WB) delegation at the CM house. He directed the authorities to start the property survey next month. The meeting was attended by the WB team comprising Abdul Razzaq Khalil, Farhatullah Sami, Kamran Akbar, Bilal Khalid, Hasan Afzal, and Ehsan Tahsin while WB Country Director Najy Benhassine participated in the meeting via video link from Islamabad.
The news source mentioned that the World Bank Group has funded the USD 240 million Competitive and Liveable City of Karachi (CLICK) project. This project will bring in radical reforms in the infrastructure of the metropolis with an emphasis on increasing the efficiency of the local government delivery system.

The government stated that the property survey in Karachi is part of the improvement of the urban property tax system project. The meeting was informed that the work on the technical aspect of the property survey was being carried out. It is pertinent to note that the last property survey across Sindh was conducted in 2001.
