Lahore: A number of real estate agents protested outside the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) complex on Saturday, June 30, 2014 against the increase in property transfer fees.
According to a news source, the protestors burnt tyres on the road because of which traffic experienced problems for some time.
“We are not targeting LDA officials. Our protest is genuine and in the public interest. The transfer fees have been increased by up to 600 per cent, which has affected our business,” a protestor told the news source.
On the other hand, a senior official of the LDA expressed surprise over the protest by those who he said were not even party to the property transfer fee increase issue. “The protest should be staged by property buyers and sellers, not by those who are not even affected by the issue,” the LDA official said.
