Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved 31 development projects worth a total of PKR 713 billion on Wednesday, according to a news report. These approvals were given in a meeting which further referred eight projects worth PKR 694.88 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for processing. This meeting was held under the chairmanship of Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Sartaj Aziz.
The approved projects were from a multitude of sectors, including energy, water, communication, transport, food, health, education, agriculture, information technology, science, and many others. The expansion of Pakistan Petroleum Core House worth PKR 424.24 million was also approved. The Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric project worth PKR 500.34 million, Jauharabad Substation projects producing 220 KV and worth PKR 3147.12 million, and power evacuation from the 2160 MW Dasu Hydropower project costing PKR 75,859.63 million were referred to ECNEC.
The CDWP also approved a development project in Mansehra, worth PKR 1020.5 million, and the construction of roads in Karachi and Malir, worth PKR 499.81 million. The construction of the Lahore-Sialkot link highway worth PKR 19.99 billion, and the 184-km Faisalabad-Khanewal Motorway worth PKR 60.82 million were referred to ECNEC for further consideration.
