Peshawar: Water and Sanitation Services (WASS) Peshawar Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syed Zafar Ali Shah has said that planning is underway for yielding an uninterrupted supply of water and electricity from waste, reported a news source. He shared this information while speaking to commission agents of the New Green Market project.

Shah said that Hiba and Bara Dam will supply water to Peshawar through a 20-kilometre long main supply line and 50-kilometre long distribution line. He mentioned that underground water table has dropped further. WASS is taking measures to stop water wastage.
Speaking about energy production from waste, WSS CEO said each household in Peshawar would get separate bins for trashing specific kinds of waste material. Grading waste will allow production of 20 megawatts of electricity, which appears enough for the city.

To improve cleanliness conditions, Shah said that cameras will be installed at public places. Those found littering public areas will face heavy charges. The city district administration might as well arrest habitual litterers.
