Lahore: For improvement in irrigation infrastructure in the province, five important projects have been identified, reported a news source. To make these projects feasible, Asian Development Bank has also shown interest in providing funds.

Details on the planned projects were shared in a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Khan Laghari. The members of the meeting were giving a detailed briefing on feasibility of the projects planned to improve the irrigation system in the province. Speaking at the occasion, Laghari said that the agriculture production needs to grow by 50% in accordance with the current rate of population growth, and a proper irrigation system can make this happen.
The projects on Irrigation Department’s priority list to meet these challenges include Greater Thal Canal Phase III, Upgradation of Upper Jehlum Canal, water reservoirs in Cholistan, and management of hill torrents in DG Khan and Rajanpur.
