Lari Adda Administrator Ahmed Raza Butt presented the project before the commissioner, who approved it right away. According to Butt, work on laying new sewerage lines will start in the next two months. Lari Adda has been facing major sewerage issues due to blocked drains, which has been a menace for passengers, and a cause for serious health and sanitation issues.

Back in July of this year, the Punjab government approved PKR 14.16 billion for a similar project to fix sewerage issues in the area connecting Laurex Colony with Gulshan-e-Ravi. In order to fix the underground network of sewerage lines, the Lahore Development Authority also prepared a project in June 2019 to lay new sewerage lines via a tunnel boring system in selected areas of the city.
The development authority is now looking to replace the old sewerage system, in a bid to facilitate the construction of high-rise buildings in the city.
