Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali Randhawa has revealed that the project to make Rawalpindi a model city has been started, a news source reported. In this regard, all stakeholders are on one page, he further added.

DC Randhawa shared this information while presiding over a meeting held in his office on Thursday (August 22). High-ranking officials representing Parks and Horticulture Authority, the Health Department, the Education Department, Rescue 1122, the Rawalpindi Development Authority and the Water and Power Distribution Authority attended this meeting.

To help implement this project effectively, the DC directed all public departments to share details keeping in view the city’s needs in the backdrop of the expected population rise in the next 10 years. These details will help determine the infrastructural needs that need to be met to help make Rawalpindi a model city.

Furthermore, the departments and stakeholders have been asked to share suggestions and present make a framework using data to reduce population load on the city. In this regard, the Education Department will share details on the dilapidated school and college buildings which must be razed immediately.
