Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood recently announced that the design for the Ammar Shaheed Chowk Remodelling project has been finalized; with its development work expected to commence soon — according to a news source.

The commissioner made these comments during a briefing session, during which he said that the city administration would continue to work tirelessly to make Rawalpindi a model city, in accordance to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The project’s estimated construction cost is expected to be PKR 788 million.

As per the project design, a proposal is being considered to build an underpass at Kacheri Chowk, which will accommodate over 100,000 vehicles on a daily basis. Construction of an underpass here will allow traffic to flow smoothly without causing any disruptions.

Commissioner Mehmood announced that work on the Ammar Shaheed Chowk Remodelling project would begin soon and that its development was essential as traffic congestion was currently among the biggest issues facing the residents of the city on a daily basis.
