Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Nadeem Ahmad Abro visited the site of Ammar Chowk and reviewed the development progress of ongoing construction work, according to news sources.

RDA Spokesperson Hafiz Muhammad on Wednesday revealed that the director general was given a detailed briefing about the progress of work. Reportedly, the Ammar Chowk project has been pending for the last 12 years. It was revealed that the Punjab government has resumed the project with the help of RDA and Station Headquarters Rawalpindi and presently, the development work is in full swing.
Keeping with the city’s growing population and traffic congestion, the original design of the project has been modified to include twin additional underpasses, undergrounding of HT and LT cables and the addition of a new service line and reinforced earth panel. Moreover, measures have also been taken to make the surrounding area green and clean to realise the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The authority officials have reported that the project is expected to be completed before the onset of 2022. Previously, the project was estimated to cost PKR 754 million, however, given the increasing price of construction raw materials have extended the project cost of PKR 1,307 million.
