Sialkot: The Government of Punjab has launched a program to promote the agriculture sector on modern lines with an intention to save irrigation water from being wasted, reported a news source. Funds worth PKR 4.76 billion have been allocated for the project.
According to a spokesperson of the Agriculture Department, the programme will help introduce the concept of profitable farming, where productivity will increase, expenditures will be reduced, and water will be saved.
The programme has a duration of three years. The spokesperson further said that the government is committed to bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector by keeping it on a priority, and major steps have been taken in this regard.
