Islamabad: The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has sent professional tax collection notices to retailers operating in the capital city, a news source reported. The notices have signatures of the respective Union Councilors’ Chairmen.

As per details, the retailers and shopkeepers are required to clear their professional taxes within 15 days of receiving these notices. The MCI will take legal action in case of non-payment of tax. Reportedly, the decision has been taken under Local Government Act to increase revenue.

The tax notice further instructs the retailers to pay their due professional taxes at the specified Union Councils. The notice have reportedly irked the business community as it doesn’t include any information on professional tax due on them.
