Lahore: The Government of Punjab has initiated the process to convert Punjab House in Murree and Rawalpindi into a university, a news source reported. The provincial government has decided to convert Governor House Murree into Kohsar University, set up an information university at Governor House Rawalpindi, and convert the Chief Minister House in Lahore into an archive centre.

The National College of Arts (NCA) has been assigned the responsibility to manage the administrative matters of the abovementioned facilities. As per various sources, the process to initiate the conversion has started officially. For this purpose, Punjab has included these projects in the Annual Development Programmes for the current fiscal year.

According to details, the federal government is looking to convert the land and all blocks of Punjab House in both Murree and Rawalpindi into a varsity. The Punjab government has instructed the Board of Revenue to allot the land to the Higher Education Department for this purpose.
