Faisalabad: On the instructions of the federal government, the administration of all districts in Faisalabad Division have launched their investigations in a bid to identify benami properties in the city, a news source reported. To facilitate this measure, the district administration officers will undertake various measures to identify such properties.

Faisalabad Commissioner Mehmood Javaid Bhatti chaired a meeting to this effect on September 11. The participants were briefed on the existing laws, its various frameworks and the proposed action against benami property owners. Representatives from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also attended the meeting, and highlighted various features of Benami Transaction Prohibition Act.

Addressing the meeting members, the commissioner said Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted to curb the menace of benami properties. All related departments will play their part in realizing the prime minister’s vision, he added.
The meeting members were also informed that the respective officials had been directed to issue a verification certificate, provided their circle contained no benami property.

Income Tax Commissioner also informed that the FBR had set up a special desk at its offices to help identify benami properties. Moreover, the benami properties commissioner has also been appointed to proceed such cases.
