The 15-acre property located adjacent to Multan Industrial Estate will now be repurposed by the TCP to construct a cold storage facility. The decision to delist the plot was taken following the approval of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The CCoP has now asked the TCP authorities to submit a comprehensive report along with the feasibility of the proposed cold storage facility in the next six months to the committee. Moreover, the committee has also asked the authorities to build the project under the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. The concerned quarters informed the committee that the facility will be built in collaboration with the Pakistan Fruits and Vegetable Exporters Association (PFVEA) and other trade associations of the Multan region.

It should be noted that the Privatization Commission reached an agreement for the site that was free of all encumbrances and presented the plot for sale on September 16, 2020, but no one engaged in the auction procedure. However, the TCP devised a proposal to build a plot for a cold storage facility to service the region’s fruit growers.
