Rawalpindi: A private housing society has reached a settlement with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Rawalpindi, which involves a payment of PKR 600 million that will be distributed amongst the affectees soon, according to a news source on October 21.

The NAB spokesperson has confirmed that the plea bargain was approved without objections by Accountability Court-1. Approximately 1,019 individuals had invested substantial sums to purchase plots within the housing society. However, they were unable to acquire the promised plots. The recovered amount, as per the NAB spokesperson, will soon be disbursed to the affected individuals.

Besides this, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) initiated a significant crackdown on unauthorized housing societies, resulting in the demolition of encroachments and illegal constructions in 11 different societies.
Additionally, the RDA reports that out of the 484 housing societies in the garrison city, 336 are operating illegally, lacking the necessary legal documentation from the regulatory authority.
