Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government Asim Khan has said that the local executive administration may consider hiring the services of private firms to collect and safely dispose waste materials, a news source reported. He shared this information while presiding over a high-level meeting yesterday to discuss the waste disposal situation in the city.

Local Government Secretary Zahir Shah, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar officers, other officers concerned, and waste disposal experts representing private firms attended this meeting. These experts briefed the meeting members of various eco-friendly ways to collect and dispose waste. The meeting members also exchanged some useful ideas.

Minister Tarkai shared his views on appropriate waste collection points in the city. He also stressed that the dumping site has to be developed in line with the international standards to save underground water table. He also indicated that the local government will consider the proposals of the private waste disposal firms before it moves forward with the plan.
