Rawalpindi: The prices of construction material have risen in the open market following the federal government’s announcement regarding the construction incentive package that is expected to lead to increased construction activity around the country — a news source reported.

The experts have estimated that the price of construction of a 5-marla home will increase by PKR 400,000 to 500,000 in the wake of the price increase. The changes in the prices of materials in the open market are as follows:
- The price of Class A bricks has risen from PKR 12,000 per thousand bricks to PKR 13,000 per thousand bricks
- Bag of cement has risen from PKR 500 to PKR 550
- A trolley of sand has risen from PKR 2,800 to PKR 3,300
- A trolley of gravel has risen from PKR 4,800 to PKR 5,500
- The price of rebar has risen from PKR 95,000 per tonne to PKR 116,000 per tonne
- The daily wages for craftsman (mistri) has been raised from PKR 1,400 to PKR 1,600, while the daily wage of labourers has been increased from PKR 800 to PKR 1,000

The rates for other related products have also risen. including those for plumbing, plaster, glass-work, and woodwork.
