According to details shared, there is now a ban on a wide range of activities and items including; bonfires, smoking, burning, littering, carrying flammable items (lighter, charcoal, matchsticks, petrol/kerosene oil) and barbeques. The said ban is effective immediately and shall remain in effect for two months. The cutting of trees has also been prohibited in the Margalla Hills. The ban was prompted after the complaint filed by the Ministry of Climate Change, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB), and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Environment Wing to the Deputy Commissioner’s office stating that recreational activities lead to wildfires in the national park.
