Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday (October 11) inaugurated the Roshan Apna Ghar initiative for non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), news sources reported. The scheme is launched for the Pakistani diaspora living in UAE to enable them to invest in the Pakistani real estate sector through central and commercial banks.

President Alvi said that the NRPs are an asset for Pakistan and they should invest in Pakistan’s real estate sector and contribute towards the development of the country’s economy.

He made these remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of a property expo organised by Pakistani banks and property firms for UAE-based NRPs. He stated that the Roshan Digital Account (RDA) offers special opportunities and incentives for investing in and purchasing property in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Reza Bakir said on the occasion that RDA account holders will be able to buy homes, build the houses on their existing plots, or renovate their homes through the central bank initiative and in collaboration with commercial banks. Additionally, he said that RDA is a successful project that has attracted USD 2.5 billion since its inception in September 2020.
