Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has urged traders and businessmen to pay taxes in order to enhance national economy and overall revenue, while talking to a delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), according to a news report published today.

Reportedly, President Alvi also emphasized that the business community had an important role in the economic development of the country, and that collection of taxes can help allocate more development funds for people.

Alvi said the government is committed to providing a competitive and fair business environment to entrepreneurs and therefore, has introduced a number of initiatives for the creation of a resilient economy. He also added that the federal government has provided financial stimulus package worth PKR 1.2 trillion to traders, and is also focused on empowering women and differently-abled persons by providing financial incentives of loans up to 5% markup.
The delegation requested further simplification of tax procedures and asked President Alvi for creating an enabling environment for smooth functioning of businesses.
