Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has directed the National Textile University (NTU) administration to assist the textile industry of the country by providing value addition inputs as well as through diversification of its merchandise, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during a presentation delivered by NTU Rector Professor Dr. Tanveer Hussain on Thursday at the presidency. The rector talked about the role of the university in textile, especially its textile-related programmes accredited by the Textile University United Kingdom (UK). He further stated that the management was working in collaboration with other international programmes and universities.

President Alvi appreciated the qualified manpower produced by NTU and acknowledged that the university was playing a major role in promoting the textile industry and boosting the exports of the country. He said that universities should adopt new communication technologies amid the coronavirus pandemic so that access to education could be sustained.
