Islamabad: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser recently stated that effective legislation would be formulated for the preservation of agricultural land in the country, a news source reported. In this regard, the food committees of the parliamentary and provincial assemblies will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation enhancement.

Qasier revealed this information while addressing the NA session of the National Dialogue on Agriculture. He extended his appreciation to all political parties and stakeholders for participating in the dialogue session. He added that they would also conduct such sessions at provincial levels in order to help the farming community. He stated that there would be another such meeting held before the next budget.
The NA speaker said that there would be working groups set up for implementing the recommendations proposed during the National Dialogue. The session suggested creating a mechanism for evaluating the performance of the government’s agriculture research centres.

The attendees of the session asked that these reviews be conducted in an impartial manner. They also proposed switching to the cultivation of organic foods, conducting regulating testing of the land, performing water processing, introducing modern farming technologies, and providing credit investment opportunities to farmers.
