Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Muhammad Usman Moazzam has announced the commencement of the preliminary work regarding the drafting of the Lahore Master Plan 2040, a news source reported.

He shared this information during his meeting with a five-member delegation of the US Consulate General in Lahore. Moazzam was accompanied by LDA Metropolitan Planner Chief Syed Nadeem Akhtar, Town Planner Chief Tariq Mehmood, LDA City Director General Fahad Anees, and Headquarters Director Kamran Perwaiz.
DG Moazzam said that the development authority encouraged construction of high-rise buildings in order to protect the agriculture land situated within the boundaries of Lahore. For this purpose, the LDA has already approved new building bylaws, he added.

The LDA DG also mentioned that stern action was being taken against developers of illegal housing schemes. The other meeting members briefed the delegation of the measures the LDA had taken to provide civic facilities to the citizens.
Information on the residential projects the LDA has so far completed in the city were also shared with the delegation. The LDA representatives informed the meeting that the civic agency had developed 58 housing schemes in the city and provided its sanction to the construction of 218 private housing schemes.
